In the past he has ported Nehahra, JoeQuake and others, but currently has only a couple available at his website. QuDos has done much work with Quake engines for BSD and Linux.

This game is great, and probably the most graphically modified Linux engine. It is based on JoeQuake with additional effects from Qrack, ezQuake and engine's limits tweaking from Fitzquake Quore is an atmospheric Quake engine running on GNU/Linux systems with enhanced graphics, increased limits, configurable HUD and ambiences, and different modes for changing the gameplay. Thanks to LordHavoc for this great project. For example - to build the OpenGL engine with ALSA sound type make cl-release, or to build with OSS sound, make cl-release DP_SOUND_API=OSS. To compile your own program uncompress the second tarball, type make to see a list of possible targets (programs), and select one. The large "darkplacesengine" tarballs include precompiled binaries and the game's source code in a second tarball.

Havoc's file archive can be a little confusing.

Recent changes include improvements to the menuing system, and speed increases, though there also appears to be some mod compatability issues creeping in.

It also supports many otherwise incompatible mods including Nehahra and Nexuiz, and has improved support for the official mission packs. It uses the same Doom3 lighting features as Tenebrae and thus requires a more powerful computer than GLQuake and QuakeForge. It's very hard to reach stalemate in Quake, and there's no super-special-one-button ability to get you out of the shit.TyrQuake is a fairly complete project including OpenGL, Software Quake and QuakeWorld clients, and other tools including the popular TyrLite. It's all about who can get to the good stuff first. I'm sure there's going to be a bunch of articles and thought-pieces about how far competetive multiplayer has come since Quake, and how it's hopelessly unbalanced, but that's the point. I actually ended up laughing at the hopelessness of my situation. I didn't resent it at all it was an incredible display of skill. Every time I respawned, there would be a rocket waiting for me. Someone joined, and from that point, pretty much all I managed to do was spawn. I got to a stage about ten years ago where I thought I was pretty good at Quake, so dropped in to a public Deathmatch map.

There's folks out there who have been playing original Quakeworld DM since release, and they've memorised every last detail of the game, right down to powerup timings and where you'll respawn after they kill you. I bet there's some old school Quakers out there having a right giggle with all the noobs trying deathmatch for the first time.
